Renew
Ohio medical cannabis registration and the physician recommendation do not follow exactly the same timeline. West Boulevard patients should keep track of both rather than waiting until their patient status has already expired.
When should a West Boulevard patient renew?
Patient registration expires on the last day of the corresponding month one year after issuance.
The Division of Cannabis Control sends a notification 45 calendar days before expiration, and renewal information may be submitted up to 30 calendar days before the current registration expires.
What does the renewal process involve?
Review the Expiration Date: Check the current registration before the renewal window arrives.
Remain Under Appropriate Medical Care: Continue the required relationship with an Ohio physician authorized to recommend medical marijuana.
Complete Physician Follow-Up: Have any medical review necessary for the physician to determine whether treatment should continue.
Renew the State Registration: Submit the required information before the active registration expires.
How long does the physician recommendation last?
Ohio limits a written medical marijuana recommendation to no more than 90 days.
A physician may renew the recommendation for up to three additional periods of no more than 90 days each. After those periods, another examination is required before a new recommendation may be issued.
What does medical marijuana renewal cost in West Boulevard?
Ohio currently charges $0 for state patient registration. The former annual charges were $50 for patients and $25 for caregivers before the Division of Cannabis Control eliminated that fee structure.
Any physician follow-up or renewal evaluation charge is separate from the state registration amount. Ohio does not set a universal physician fee.
