$20 Medical Card Online West Boulevard
Seeing a $20 medical card online advertisement does not mean Ohio charges patients $20 for medical cannabis registration. The state registration amount is currently $0, following removal of the former patient and caregiver registration fees.
The advertised $20 therefore represents a price established by the medical provider offering the service. Depending on the offer, that amount might apply to a consultation, promotional evaluation, deposit, or another specific part of the provider’s certification service.
Ohio does permit the qualifying physician examination to happen online. Under the state’s medical marijuana physician requirements, the physician can examine a prospective patient using telehealth while establishing the bona fide physician-patient relationship required for a recommendation.
A remote consultation may include discussion of the patient’s diagnosis, treatment history, current medications, relevant test results, symptoms, and other medical records. The recommending physician must document the qualifying condition and remain available for appropriate follow-up care.
When the physician determines that a patient qualifies, the required information is submitted for registration. The Division of Cannabis Control must receive a complete submission within 90 calendar days of the recommendation date.
Patients should therefore look beyond the advertised dollar amount and check exactly what is included. A low introductory price may not necessarily cover follow-up care or future certification services.
For West Boulevard residents, telemedicine can be especially practical because the medical consultation can be completed from home rather than requiring a trip along Lorain Avenue, West 105th Street, West 117th Street, Denison Avenue, or another neighborhood corridor.
